In 1958The animal facility of Hubei Medical College was established.
In 1994Experimental Animal Center of Hubei Medical University was established, Professor Zhou   Hongyuan was appointed as the first Director of the Center.
In 1998The experimental animal center barrier facility broke ground.
In August 2000Wuhan University and Hubei Medical University merged to form a new Wuhan University. The Experimental Animal Center was placed under the Asset Management Department of Wuhan University.
In September 2001Experimental Animal Center was administrated under Wuhan University School of Medicine.
In November 2001Construction of P3 animal laboratory started.
In October 2003P3 Animal Laboratory conducted the first experiment "Human monkey anti-SARS virus inactivated vaccine" First laboratory animal use license and experimental animal production license was approved.

In July 2005The Experimental Animal Center of Wuhan University was renamed as the Animal Experimental Center of Wuhan University. the Animal Experiment Center and the A3 Laboratory were designated as secondary units directly administered under Wuhan University.
In May 2006A3 Lab signed the first international cooperation project with Tokyo Tuberculosis Research Institute, Japan.
In October 2006Animal Experiment Center and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) jointly held   the first Sino-US seminar: "The establishment of the Chinese rhesus monkey SIV model".
In March 2007A3 Lab was awarded the “Highly Pathogenic Pathogenic Microorganism Laboratory Qualification Certificate” by the Ministry of Health.
In July 2007US Aeras Global Tuberculosis Vaccine Foundation and Animal Experiment Center signed a letter of intent.
In January 2008US Aeras Global Tuberculosis Vaccine Foundation and A3 Lab conducted joint research for the first time.
In March 2009A3 Lab was certified by International AAALAC.
